About

I am an award winning web developer working in Cambridge for Jagex Game Studio.

During my time at Jagex I have worked on a number of large scale projects as part of the web systems team. In addition I have helped maintain and update high profile sites and applications, the biggest and most recognisable being RuneScape.

I previously worked for Cool Blue Brand Communications turning high quality designs into fully functioning websites for a wide range of clients.

I hold a First Class Bachelor of Arts degree in Web Design from Teesside University. It’s one of my proudest achievements to date, but not something I’m content with. I continue to build upon my skills, constantly striving to be better at what I do.

I am an expert in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. I’ve been working with AngularJS on a new high profile product too. I’ve recently started working with CoffeeScript and have found for large scale application development it offers a number of advantages. Similarly I have been using SASS to improve the manageability of CSS.

During my time at Cool Blue I used the jQuery library a fair amount, as is evident in my portfolio. Since moving to Jagex times have changed and I’ve moved away from my dependence on it. A lot of its effects can now be replicated with CSS3 with much less effort.

The majority of sites I created at Cool Blue are built upon the WordPress platform. As such I have good knowledge of the requirements of developing around a content management system along with experience of PHP.

Aside from my primary responsibilities as a Web Developer I’m an active member in Jagex’s gaming community. I’ve also delivered lightning talks to the team about areas I’ve researched too. During my time at Cool Blue I was required to write and deliver pitches and presentations to clients to generate new work. I also used to write regular blog content.
